Companies from USA and Germany visit PITA interested in doing business in Andalusia

A delegation of companies from the United States and Germany interested in learning about the thermosolar energy sector in Andalusia, and in possibly conducting business in this region of Spain, have visited the Almería Science and Technology Park (PITA). The visitors toured both the Science Centre on the Almería University Campus and also the Technology Park, which is near both the campus and the airport.

This visit to PITA is part of an initiative program called “Invest in Andalucía,” an initiative developed by the Ministry of Economy, Innovation and Science through Extenda-Agencia Andaluza de Promoción Exterior y la Agencia IDEA). Additional backing also comes from the collaboration of the Technological Spaces Network of Andalusia (RETA).

During their stay in Almería, the delegation of foreign countries visited the PITA Science Centre, where they were welcomed by Managing Director, Alfredo Sánchez, who was also accompanied by the Managing Director of RETA, Lourdes Cruz. “We are very happy that these extremely important multinational companies, which are so strong in the renewable energies sector, wanted to visit our Centre first-hand and are considering the possibility of moving in. Without question, these are key strategic sectors for Almería,” stated the Managing Director of PITA, Alfredo Sánchez.

The representatives of these companies showed interest in the accessibility to financing that PITA, as a Technology Park, can provide to companies interested in opening offices at its centre. This financial assistance comes from public aid, but there are also attractive loans with special conditions available through public credit institutions.

Over the course of a day of visits and meetings at the PITA Science Centre, the delegation of foreign companies received information about the characteristics of the Andalusian Technological Centre for Renewable Energies (CTAER). A presentation about this institution, which is connected to RETA, was given by its assistant managing director, Guadalupe Pinna.

During their brief tour of the Almería Technology Park the group of visitors observed the rapid progress of the Business Centre’s construction, which is projected to be finished by the end of the year. This was followed by a visit to Tabernas to tour the Plataforma Solar de Almería (PSA).

The visit of this foreign business delegation to PITA organised by “Invest in Andalucía” is a product of the collaboration between RETA and Extenda-Agencia Andaluza de Promoción Exterior. This relationship began in 2009 when both entities signed a collaboration agreement to carry out different activities designed to create international publicity for companies in RETA’s field, specifically those companies located in technology parks of Andalusian that are RETA associates.

This collaboration agreement, which has facilitated numerous actions and programmes with very positive results in the last two years, has recently been renewed by both entities in order to continue their partnership.
