Adriana Valverde inaugurates conference on New Energy Technologies

The Provincial Councillor for Economy, Innovation and Science, Adriana Valverde, has inaugurated the conference on New Energy Technologies which was organised jointly by PITA and the Provincial Association of Renewable Energy Businesses ASEMPAL Renovables. PITA Managing Director Alfredo Sanchez and ASEMPAL Renovables President Amador Martínez shared the duties of presenting the speakers at the event.

During her words of welcome, Adriana Valverde highlighted that Almería is at the forefront of the renewable energies sector. “With activities like the one this afternoon, I’m convinced that it will remain in this position,” she stated. The Councillor of Economy, Innovation and Science offered some figures in this respect: the installed power of renewable energies in terms of the generation of energy in the Almería province is 545.72 megawatts. The estimated annual electricity generation from renewable sources is 937 gigawatt hours, which equates to the consumption of 187,000 homes; this avoids the emission of 342,000 tonnes of CO2, which is the equivalent of removing 175,600 vehicles from the roads. “In addition, the province boasts 17 functioning wind farms with a total power potential of 462.05 megawatts. Almería is the second province in Andalusia, behind Cadiz, with the most installed wind power,” added Councillor Valverde.
