Science Site
Business building for scientific and technology activities.
The scientific site of the Parque Científico-Tecnológico de Almeria (PITA) counts with a surface of 3.100 square metres and a 4,5 mio € of financial investment. This architectonic operation merges because of a collaboration agreement between the University of Almeria ( that eased the land for a period of 30 years) and PITA. The project is based on environmental sustainability criteria and energy save. Counts on with a maximum of internal flexibility to be adapted to each company specific need that is an example of what is being developed at the technologic park close to El Alquián.
To be able to meet the demanding execution deadlines and excellence required under the quality point of view, this order has required of an important coordination and managing skills. The job has been carried out by the almerian company Jarquil.
PITA Scientific Site was built with public subsidies provided by the European Union, Spain Goverment and Andalucia Regional Goverment.
Light as a channel for tranferring technology
Based on a primary approach developed by the architect Rosa Blacázar, of ESTCI, the IDOM-ACXT architect team members Jokiñe Uriarte and Armando Vega had the mission to create this building compounded of two floors above ground level, and another one bellow purposed for a major use on technology workshops.
Under the design point of view, this sober but convincing project has achieved being perfectly involved in the campus environment at the same time that provides to its occupant best comfort and fitness conditions. That is why it was so important to introduce light inside the building from the front as well as from the roof light covering the central patio that light bathe the common areas of the whole building: "light as a channel for transferring technology".
