PITA - Parque tecnológico Almería

Five Technology Based companies of Almería have been selected for the second phase of the EOI-APTE EBTs’ Consolidation Action Programme. This programme is being developed by EOI Foundation (Industrial Organization School belonging to the Industry, Tourism and Trade Ministry) in collaboration with the Spanish Association of Scientific and Technology Parks (APTE), that PITA belong to.

During the recent IASP World Conference in Korea an IASP European Division meeting was held. An important part of this meeting was holding a Presidential election as Sten Gunnar Johansson had come to the end of his presidential term. The vote was put to the members present and various proxies had also been received. Iztok Lesjak (Ljubljana Technology Park, Slovenia) was unanimously elected as the new President of the division, taking over from Sten Gunnar.

The Regional Minister of Economy, Innovation and Science, has celebrated his first Board of Directors as chairman of the Almeria Scientific and Technologic Park. At this board, hold in the afternoon of Monday 14th of June, Ávila got to know the challenges and objectives of the park.

Telecommunications, Information Society and Internet International Day also hold at PITA showed the existing need to have Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to be consolidated as strategic for the productive economy.

PITA chairman, Martín Soler, officially presented our park 2009 Annual Report. This publication explains last year most relevant activities and events, as well as technical; finance and entrepreneurial information related to the Almería technopolis. “The park has willing of self evaluation to measure our progress”, Soler said.

In the coming days it will be published Science and Innovation Ministry official call for this year finance grants under INNPLANTA name (former Acteparq) for Scientific and Technologic Parks’ entities already installed or in the process to be installed in them. A total of 600 mio Euros for projects without any subsidy request economic limitation Aids can reach 100% of the budget.

PITA Executive Commission agreed during their last meeting the allocation of the first two plots at El Alquían new technologic enclave to Andalucía Emprende Foundation and to the private company Laboratorio Analítico Bioclínico, S.L. (LAB).

Martín Soler, Innovation, Science and Business Regional Minister, chaired last march the 5th, the Almería Scientific and Technologic Park Executive Commission where the new main building construction 1st phase allocation was approved. This building will be the first infrastructure of the park.

The Official Province Bulletin (BOP) has published (Monday february 15th) the building works first lot bidding process PITA Technology Research and Transfer Centre for earth works, foundation and structure, with a budget of 3,5 mio euros and 9 months project deadline.

Jose Luis Sánchez Teruel, general manager of Andalucía Emprende has visited PITA Scientific Site where the Business Development Support Centre (CADE) will count with a new office. CADE belongs to the Entrepreneurial Support Territory Network that will carry out administrative tasks in this building. In this way CADE and PITA revive their collaboration commitment.

Spain biggest company has just opened in Almería its first centre of personalized management for small and medium size companies (PYMES).

Entities and EBTs agreed on participating again in the Fair 26 th Edition under the innovation area of the Almeria Scientific anda Techonolig Park.

The Scientific and Technology Park of Almería (PITA) kicks off in commercializing their plots at the new tecnopolis during the 25th Almería Expo Agro. Main central building construction will start in February.

Almería Scientific and Technologic Park will be at the 25th Edition of the International Mediterranea Agribuisness Feria during the 25th until the 27th of November, together with another 20 innovation entities and technology based companies. This is a re-edition of the innovation area as per the success obtained during last year Expo-Agro edition.

During the APTES VII International Conference 2009 at Barcelona the Scientific and Technologic Park of Almería title changes from affiliated member to “partner” , this event was opened by the minister Cristina Garmendia.

The building counts on with 15 Companies Technology Based (EBTs) and three technology centres, that are running since July this year.

PITA will generate 1000 million euros in 2018. The Unicaja Group study remarks that this figure will represent 4,7% of the global gross added value of the Almería province.
