How to get set up
Why set up at PITA
The Almería Science and Technology Park (PITA) aspires to become an international organisation of reference and a cradle of innovation for cutting-edge agricultural technology development. This is to be made a reality by encouraging the diversification of the provincial economy through the opening new production sectors which possess a capacity for innovation.
PITA offers itself to entrepreneurs, entities and companies as the perfect place for innovation and business growth in the Mediterranean. If your company or entity is interested in operating in the Almería Science and Technology Park or wishes to provide services to the companies established in it, then you should consider setting up at one of our two locations: the Science Centre on the university campus or the Technology Park itself, just off the main motorway (Autovía del Mediterráneo).
Where to Set Up
PITA has two locations in provincial capital area: one, dedicated primarily to science, is on the Almería University Campus and, the other, is the enormous Technology Park which covers 2 million square metres of land in the El Alquián area. Property sales and rentals include plots at the Technology Park, offices and laboratories in the Business Centre (also at the Park) and offices at the Science Centre on the University Campus.
I’d like to set up at the Technology Park
Plots at our technopolis in El Alquián are now on sale. Before becoming a resident company, organisation or entity at the PITA Technology Park, the administrating body must first evaluate all interested parties with its Selection Criteria and Procedures.
PITA encourages both knowledge and technology transfer and promotes innovation among the companies and organisations established at its park, which is an outstanding location boasting quality, spaciousness of facilities, low building density, as well as carefully controlled internal urbanisation guidelines.
Our commitment to the environment is absolute and we make every effort to maximize usage of renewable energies. All of the above appears in our Procedures Guide for Sustainability (Environmental Building Quality Rating in the Almería Science and Technology Park). This document also affects the companies that purchase plots and present building projects.
Another important step prior to filling out the plot purchase application is deciding exactly which plot you would like. In order to do so, you can make use of our Plot Locater tool which allows you to check plot availability, surface area and precise location inside the technopolis.
The final step is to send us your Plot Purchase Application.

I’d like to set up at the Business Centre
The Almería
Science and Technology Park also has laboratories and offices available
at its main building inside the Park. We adapt to your company’s spatial
needs by offering 20-square metre office modules that can be modified
and combined. These spaces are designed for both companies with
innovative projects that want to get started at PITA and also those that
wish to provide services to the other companies already established in
the Business Centre. All companies that decide to set up here will enjoy
all available added value services: security, meeting and training
rooms, café-restaurant, etc.

I’d like to set up at the Science Centre
The PITA Science Centre, located on the Almería University Campus, features a business incubator and also offers innovative technology-based companies 35-square metre office modules. And, in addition to providing business consulting and other added value services, the Science Centre features meeting rooms and a projection room with comfortable permanent seating for 70 people.

Company profiles
This Almería-based park already features a variety companies from a wide range of sectors. These include agricultural technology and environmental technologies, renewable energies, industrial design, development of web-based management applications, the generation of diesel using waste matter, seismic engineering applied to construction safety, a food safety and quality analysis laboratory, and even scientific research applied to human resources in business environments. Indeed, all innovative activities that promote R+D+I are welcome, but this by no means excludes the companies that wish to provide a service to others established inside the park.
