History

In February of 2001 a proposal from the Regional Government of Andalusia to create a Technology Park in the province of Almeria, together with private investment was unanimously approved by the Andalusian Parliament.

In May 2002 ‘Parque Científico-Tecnológico de Almería S.A.’ (PITA) was founded. It is the promotional and managing organisation of the future technopolis of Almería, and a key tool for developing enterprise, innovation and knowledge and technology transference.

The Almeria Science and Technology Park is already underway and will most certainly contribute to the economic development of the region. The PITA project is a natural evolution of Almería’s economy and a necessary element in order to consolidate this age of continued growth.

PITA is advancing purposefully with the strength required of a project of such magnitude. It is strategically located in a most idyllic area; right next to the Autovía del Medierráneo (Mediterranean Motorway), close to the airport, the University of Almería, the El Toyo residential development and very near the provincial capital.
